Performance Evaluation

Performance Evaluation

One thing that almost all jobs have in common is the performance evaluation. It may look a little different from company to company or position to position but the goal is always the same – to determine whether or not an individual has successfully achieved the objectives of the company and specifically, the role. More importantly, it is usually a key factor in determining whether or not one is getting a pay raise.

Do you know that you have an appointed job here on earth? The CEO of the whole universe has given you a position that only you can fill. He has given you a purpose and a plan with objectives clearly laid out in His Word. Do you know what your divine appointment is? When is the last time you reviewed the employee handbook? When is the last time you talked with the ultimate Supervisor to review your performance objectives? If you had a performance evaluation today would you receive a positive or negative review? Would you be eligible for a raise?

If you do not know what your appointed purpose is, pray that God will reveal His plan for you. Spend time in the Word to learn the commandments and rules of your role and to better understand the character of your Boss. Spend time with Him in prayer to discern the specific objectives and goals He wants you to achieve. Finally, do an honest self-assessment of your performance and seek God’s feedback and guidance on how you should move forward in the mission He has for your life.

The best part about all of this, is that we are not working for a mere monetary raise, but for a permanent promotion. Galatians 6:8 says that “whoever sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life.” This performance evaluation is the ultimate review with eternal implications. How will you do?
