Happy New Year!

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year! As we celebrate the arrival of 2018, it is time once again to evaluate our goals, our dreams and our priorities. We have 365 days this year to work towards our mission and purpose, but we must be careful to use our time wisely.

One of the biggest thieves of time is worry. How much time do we spend worrying about something that happened last year, yesterday or an hour ago? How much time do we spend worrying about things that may or may not happen in the near or distant future? How much time do we spend worrying about things that we absolutely cannot control?

I have heard it said that worry is the opposite of faith. It is a contradiction to state that we believe that God is in control of everything, yet fret and worry about events that are happening all around us. How can we say that we believe that “all things work together for good, to them that love God, to them who are the called according to His purpose (Rom 8:28),” yet sit and worry about how our latest dilemma is going to turn out?

Jesus asked, “Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life” (Matt 6:27, NIV)? There are about 8,760 hours in a year and we do not gain any more by worrying. This year let us choose to spend our time wisely. Let this be the year that we choose to stop worrying and to live in faith.

Happy 2018!
