18 Jul Heart Makeover
Think about how much time and money we spend each year on how we look. Manicures, pedicures, hair products, makeup, clothes, shoes – these are just a few of the services and products we invest in to make a great impression. Right or wrong, people make assumptions about our abilities and status based on our outward appearance. We may even find that we impose limitations on ourselves based on how we view our external features.
Scripture says that “the Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart” (1 Sam 16:7). God does not care how tall we are or how much we weigh. He can use us just as we are. He looks beyond the surface and examines our inner thoughts and intentions. He searches the heart. So while we are focused on perfecting our outer beauty, perhaps we should spend more time focused on our inner beauty. It is time for us to invest in a makeover of the heart.
