Fearfully and Wonderfully Made

Fearfully and Wonderfully Made

My favorite verse is Psalms 139:14 that says “I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made…”  It is one of several verses in this psalm of David in which he reflects on the relationship between God and man.  As you read through the psalm, you can tell that he is truly in awe of how well God knows him and the care God put into creating him.

Not only did God create each one of us for His glory but He was meticulous in every single detail of our existence inside and out.  I know we spend a lot of time thinking about our flaws.  Am I too short or too tall?  Am I too fat or too thin?  Why is my nose shaped like this and why doesn’t my hair look like that?  But we have to remember that God deliberately created us to be exactly who we are.  He knew us in our mother’s womb and He did not make any mistakes.  We are wonderfully made!

So why start a blog on Honorable Distinction with this particular post?  Well, I believe that we cannot have the confidence to show our best selves to the world if we are not absolutely convinced of just how wonderful we are.

This blog is all about distinction and presence and how we present ourselves to the world each and every day.  In order to truly distinguish ourselves in our homes, our jobs and in our communities we have to first recognize how special we really are.  Our level of importance is not based on our positions.  We don’t have to have the title of a CEO, a President, or a Director to be a leader and to distinguish ourselves in the world.  We can distinguish ourselves right where we are right now.

The title of this blog is “Honorable Distinction.”  Honorable is synonymous with integrity, nobility and excellence.  As a child of God we should exude all of these traits.  God has placed in each of us all that we need to live a life of distinction.  Let us embrace who we truly are and whose we really are and move forward in this journey of becoming a person of honorable distinction.

Reflection:

You are fearfully and wonderfully made but you may not always feel that way.  Take a moment to think about your 5 best physical or character traits.  How do these characteristics distinguish you from everyone else?  Write them down and post the list in a place where you can see it and remind yourself of just how great you are.
