25 Jun Worthy of The Calling
In Ephesians 4:1-3, Paul encouraged the believers to live a life worthy of their calling or as the Message version says to “get out there and walk – better yet, run! – on the road God called you to travel.” Each of us has a specific call on our lives; a unique destination that God has set in our internal GPS systems. Our goal should be not only to fulfill that calling but to live a life that is worthy of that calling. In these verses Paul gives specific guidance to the Ephesians on how to do that:
1. Be humble and gentle – Don’t let pride or arrogance get in the way. God chose us. He has a purpose for us. That is an honor and a privilege that we should not take lightly. We should be humbled by our calling and carry ourselves with humility and deference to that call.
2. Be patient and bear with one another in love – We are all in different places in our journey and we must be patient with one another. Despite whatever differences we have with others we should try to promote tolerance and to learn to come together in love.
3. Keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace – As believers we are all one body with different members. We all have different strengths and weaknesses that are designed to work together to fulfill God’s plan. Learn to be a peacemaker instead of a troublemaker.
Reflection: What is your calling? Are you living a life worthy of your calling?
