24 Apr Simply Eating
I want to spend a few weeks talking about eating. Yes, eating!
I am not going to focus on what to eat or what not to eat. I am not going to elaborate on any specific diets or the pros/cons of certain foods. I am not even going to talk about eating healthy to get in shape. This is all about understanding our relationship with food and exploring what the Bible says about simply eating.
Much of our lives revolve around food. From the time we get up in the morning until we go to bed, we are constantly making decisions about what we are consuming. Some of us bury our emotional baggage with our favorite comfort foods, while others reenergize in the midst of a circle of friends in a favorite restaurant. We celebrate our victories, mourn our losses and process our emotions with food.
Given the importance of eating (even outside of basic survival) it is critical that we have a healthy relationship with food. 1 Corinthians 10:31 says “whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.” Over the next few weeks, we are going to discover how to do just that.
