14 Nov What’s Next?
Unless you have been vacationing on Mars, you are well aware of the surprising turn of events last Tuesday. Under different circumstances, the post I would have written today would have been full of references to shattered glass ceilings and dreams fulfilled. I would have dwelled on the virtues of hard work and indisputable experience. I would have focused on the rewards of taking the high road and staying above the fray. Although I believe all those concepts still apply, in theory, I cannot use the election results as an example of that today. So…here we are. What’s next?
The day after the election, Clinton spoke to her supporters and campaign staff. Towards the end of her speech she referenced a Scripture that says “let us not grow weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not (Galatians 6:9).” In the aftermath of the election, many have wondered how a message of hate and division could have defeated a message of hope and unity. Well, we may not have an answer for that, but this Scripture does reassure us that “all things work together for good to them that love God (Romans 8:28).” It reminds us that good will ultimately win no matter what it may look like today. As we embark on these next 4 years and beyond, let us remember that God is truly in control and everything will work out, in due season, according to His plan.
If you have not already done so, I would encourage you to read my previous post titled “Vote and Pray.” Now, more than ever, we really need to pray for our country. The healing of this nation depends on our prayers.
